Certain folk, by the way they live, teach us what joy is all about. These joy bearers are not jokesters…Yet they possess the quality rightly called joy. They live that joy as much in the midst of crisis as they do in days of outward celebration. - I am a United Methodist minister retired from serving churches. I began serving my first church in September of 1973 in the West Ohio Conference. Since then, I have served 12 churches in 3 states, 4 Annual Conferences and as a United Methodist I have also had the opportunity to be interim pastor of 2 non-Methodist congregations. I have also worked as a counselor, spiritual director, hospital chaplain, campus minister, and publisher of a spiritual formation newsletter. I have been active in leading spiritual retreats including, The Walk to Emmaus since 1983 and Chrysalis since 1991. I have 2 grown sons. Formal education includes: B.S. in Psychology, Purdue University 1967; M.Div. United Theological Seminary 1975; Certificate in Spiritual Formation, Perkins School of Theology 1985; M.A. program in Pastoral Counseling and Spiritual Direction, Fordham University 1989. After 30 years in Texas I have moved back home to Dayton Ohio. Since May of 2007 I have been on staff of the Pohly Center for Supervision and Leadership Formation at United Theological Seminary (Methodist). My work is integrating leadership growth and faith growth.
